Vaults | Under the Old Hawthorn | Głogów | Polan Vaults | Under the Old Hawthorn | Głogów | Poland

The antique tierceron, barrel and crystal vaults in the townhall restaurant served as the main inspiration for orginal modern glass compostions.

In the medieval Town Hall in Głogów, a restaurant already existed at the turn of the Gothic and Renaissance periods. During that time, the building was remodeled, resulting in two rooms with net and crystal vaults.

In the Renaissance period, a room with a barrel vault was also created. In the 19th century, the building was further reconstructed based on a design by A. Soller, one of the best students of Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

World War II left a devastating mark on the Town Hall, destroying the vaults. The post-war reconstruction was led by architect Andrzej Kamiński from PKZ-A-R-S.

The current interiors of the Town Hall restaurant, under the name "Pod Starym Głogiem", were designed by architect Anna Morasiewicz from the APA Linea studio. During the concept phase, she invited Tomasz Urbanowicz to collaborate in developing the guiding artistic idea.

The artist proposed introducing contemporary, original glass artworks into the historic interiors, with each room featuring a circular glass disc whose character reflects the form of its corresponding vault.

The wood paneling was adapted to the shape of the glass, and the division of the rooms is further emphasized by cast glass partitions with doors between the individual spaces.

Psalm One | Church of St. Joseph | Przedbórz | Po Psalm One | Church of St. Joseph | Przedbórz | Poland

The church in Przedbórz is a gem of contemporary architecture, designed by the renowned architect Władysław Pieńkowski, who specialized in sacred buildings.

For the church’s interior, Tomasz Urbanowicz designed and created an artistic glass composition containing the text of Psalm One.

Christ has been taken down from the cross and given a glass backdrop.

The artwork consists of four monumental bent glass panels, shaped like the pages of a book, forming a background for a wooden sculpture of Christ.

On the glass, Psalm One is imprinted in raised lettering — in both Hebrew and Old Polish, translated by Jan Kochanowski.

The forged mounting elements were crafted by the well-known master blacksmith Ryszard Mazur.

Hope | Evangelical-Augsburg Church of Divine Provi Hope | Evangelical-Augsburg Church of Divine Providence | Wrocław | Poland

A cross made of thick yellow glass, cast into a hand-formed dynamic shape titled “HOPE” by Tomasz Urbanowicz, adorns the interior of the Evangelical-Augsburg Parish of Divine Providence in Wrocław.

The 180 cm tall sculpture also functions as a window, allowing it to be illuminated by natural light.

The artistic glass interior of the Church of the Savior of the Evangelical-Augsburg Parish in Działdowo, designed by architects Robert Futerhendler and Grażyna Futerhendler, is maintained in a three-color scheme:

Purple – symbolizing suffering,
White – purity,
Green – hope.

The glass side walls, referencing the Ten Commandments, use Greek letters to evoke the words of Christ: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end."

The altar is also made of three-colored glass, supported by legs in the shape of the Greek letter omega. A glass base for the Bible is placed on the altar.

Theology | Faculty of Theology | Silesian Universi Theology | Faculty of Theology | Silesian University in Katowice | Poland

A series of artistic glass compositions creates the mood and character of the chapel interior in the Faculty of Theology building, designed by architects from the firm Stabil Sp. z o.o.

Tomasz Urbanowicz, working closely with the architects—particularly architect Henryk Wilkosz—designed and kiln-formed the artistic glass pieces for both the chapel and the reception desk in the main hall.

The composition consists of a large-scale installation titled "Crucifixion", the altar top, glass elements in the pulpit, and three thick glass panels in the windows featuring symbols of Christianity.

One of the glass artworks contains a “touch” of red— it is symbolic in the understanding of the glass, as well as the only intense color in a relatively monochromatic building…

Beer Brewing | Holsten Brewery | Hamburg | Germany Beer Brewing | Holsten Brewery | Hamburg | Germany

The Holsten Brewery was founded in 1879 in Hamburg, and at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries it became the largest in Germany.

The glass art compositions in the reception hall of the Hamburg headquarters refer to the original ideas of beer brewing process, hence the colors of barle and hops.

The coherent, holistic installation, together with the reflection in the floor, creates a unique character of the interior and introduces a touch of visual identification.

Baroque Glass | Uniwersytet Wrocławski | Poland Baroque Glass | Uniwersytet Wrocławski | Poland

Visitors enter the historic Main Building of the @uniwersytet_wroclawski at 1 Uniwersytecki Square through an ornate Baroque entrance portal, complete with an overhanging balcony and massive wrought-iron doors. Inside, they find themselves in a grand Baroque hall with a ceremonial staircase leading up to the famous Leopoldina Hall and further to the Mathematical Tower. Every tourist visiting Wrocław is bound to stop here. For this reason, the need arose to create a ticket and information point for guests.

The challenging task of integrating contemporary functions into this Baroque interior was successfully undertaken by architect Anna Morasiewicz of the Linea Architectural Studio, who invited Tomasz Urbanowicz to collaborate. The information and ticket counters were placed within two window recesses. Urbanowicz, inspired by the Baroque style, designed and cast contemporary-looking glass works that harmonize with the surrounding historical architecture. By introducing this modern design gesture, the entrance hall now effectively serves its new role while respecting the integrity of the heritage site.

Karkonosze Museum | Jelenia Góra | Poland The Ka Karkonosze Museum | Jelenia Góra | Poland

The Karkonosze Museum in Jelenia Góra boasts the largest collection of contemporary artistic glass in Poland. A beautiful exhibition of these collections became possible thanks to the modernization and expansion carried out based on a design by Dr. Arch. Marek Skorupski from Arch-E Design Studio.

In the new entrance hall, Tomasz Urbanowicz installed his specially designed reception furniture piece. It’s a bold form, resembling a stealth military aircraft, with a natural “floating in the air” stone countertop made of slate named “Roma,” supported solely by sculpted glass legs. These glass elements at the entrance set the tone for the fascinating journey into the world of artistic glass awaiting visitors in the museum.

The museum's collection also includes other works by Urbanowicz: a glass bear from EXPO 2000 in Hanover, a powerful glass disc titled “20512 Aosta Valley 2012 Gresoney” located outside the entrance, the composition “Karpacz-Wang” from 2012, and several watercolor design sketches.

Palace in Opypy | @palacczosnowskich | Poland The Palace in Opypy | @palacczosnowskich | Poland

The palace near Grodzisk Mazowiecki experienced two periods of flourishing in its history. The first was around 1900, when it was rebuilt in a 19th-century park for Maria Klementyna Colonna Czosnowska. The second came after many twists of fate, when it came under the ownership of the Fortalicja Czemierniki Foundation.

A thorough renovation in 2000, driven by the vision and ambition of a private investor and collaborating architects — from “Studio Projektowe i Wzorcownia – Narada,” Wiesław Michałek, and Dr. Arch. Katarzyna Jucha — allowed for the integration of a significant amount of artistic glass by Tomasz Urbanowicz.

Thick and raw glass castings serve as self-supporting balustrades, partitions, artworks, enormous bathroom doors (weighing 400 kg), and even a floor lit from below — allowing you to walk on it as if you were Jesus walking on water… ;-)
