Lower Silesian Specialist Hospital in Wroclaw

Wroclaw, Poland
2015

The T. Marciniak Lower Silesian Specialist Hospital – Center of Emergency Medicine began its work in 2015. It is the most modern and presumably the largest hospital in Poland. Architect Joanna Styrylska of Design Group ISBA, in designing the interior of the hall and chapel, felt it was important to include something for the soul in the hospital- pieces of glass artwork from Tomasz Urbanowicz.

In the monochromatic interior of the hall, across from the entrance, Urbanowicz designed and created a large format colorful glass piece presenting a motif from the city Wrocław- water reflecting the Cathedral Island (Ostrów Tumski). In the chapel, in one window, he placed a honey-tinted piece with a motif of Lower Silesia- a Conciliation Cross.

The creation of this glass art in the hospital was made possible thanks to the understanding of the investor, Nowy Szpital Wojewódzki Sp. z o.o.
