Libeskind’s Sail

The glass sculpture “Libeskind’s Sail” on Złota 44 is located in a skyscraper by architect Daniel Libeskind in Warsaw, Poland. The apartment on one of the upper floors of the skyscraper was designed by the MA.PA design studio.

The sculpture is one of the first in a series of free-standing objects, consisting of hand-formed glass at 850°C fused directly to the base. The sculptural form functionally divides the dining room from the living room. Visually, however, the composition maintains the continuity of the open space, remaining free in the air, without frames or additional fixings. The colors of the sculpture harmonize with the designed interior and finishing details but also with the building of the Palace of Culture and Science located in the immediate vicinity.
